MoMo is a FinTech startup that offers a mobile, electronic wallet and payment application for iOS and Android devices. Its products help customers in Vietnam make nationwide cash transfers, pay more than 100 types of bills, recharge mobile phone accounts, settle personal loans, and purchase services such as software licenses, online game cards, etc.

The Data Science team in Hanoi, part of the Technology Center, is responsible for developing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning systems like Recommendation Platform, Face Payment System, Spam Filtering system etc. We do those systems by analyzing users’ behaviors and by extracting insights to design and implement  new Machine Learning algorithms to help our users seamlessly engage with the MoMo app. Recently, the team is trying to incorporate social signals by leveraging Social Graphs and Graph Mining techniques to support the user base growth and sales in MoMo.  The team has publications in international conferences and an allowance USA Patent in AI recommendation

Key Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will be part of the Data Analytics team, and work to supplement the analytics and visualization contributions towards the data-driven decisions at designing new AI algorithms as well as business developments.This candidate should enjoy managing high volumes of commercial and operational data and be comfortable providing analyses and insights. They will have the opportunity to directly influence the products and development of the company, and their conclusions will have a wide-ranging impact on the commercial decisions of the business. The main tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Building, developing, and maintaining automated dashboards to monitor performance metrics
• Monitoring data quality to ensure data sources are reliable and relevant for the team’s purposes
• Analyzing complex data to drive insightful findings and translating them into meaningful, actionable recommendations for our stakeholders
• Designing and implementing solutions and best-practices, with automation and scalability in mind, to empower end-users to become self-reliant
• Collaborating with internal team to consolidate requirements, understand business needs, and deliver projects in a timely manner
• Work proactively with key business partners to closely monitor risks and opportunities and identify improvement opportunities
• Ad-hoc Reporting & Data Analysis duties or other responsibilities as required
• Types of projects include: conjoint analysis, basket base analysis, customer segmentation; analyses to enhance user acquisition, engagement, conversion, retention; reporting standardization; gamification;
• Implement A/B testing and extract insights from it. After that, collaborate with the AI team , product team as well as Business team to design new algorithms or features.
• Have an opportunity to learn how to apply AI, Machine Learning on Growth with regards to user base and business.

What you will need

Minimum Qualifications

• University degree (BA, BSc, etc.) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Management; or
• University degree with quantitative/statistics coursework such as Business, Economics, Marketing, or relevant fields

Key Skills/Experience Required

• Critical:
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
• Ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of data with high attention to detail
• Ability to visualize findings, create meaningful insights, and arrive at actionable recommendations
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving aptitude
• Strong spoken and written communication skills (in both English and Vietnamese) to collaborate with team members and to explain findings clearly to internal team as well as stakeholders
• Sense of ownership, a growth mindset, and the ability to recommend solutions which are scalable
• Self-learner and quick to adopt new knowledge and technical skills
• Effectively collaborate within a team as well as work independently
• Desirable:
• Experience with BI/analytics/statistics tools and languages (Google BigQuery, Google Data Studio, R, Python, etc.)
• Solid technical/functional knowledge in statistics
